The Chaperone Program
ISW is dedicated to ensuring safe communities while fostering the well being of the individual offender. The chaperone program was developed to address the needs of the community and the individual offender in a mutually beneficial way. The chaperone program provides chaperones to supervise offenders in the community.
Our chaperones have completed intensive training by the ISW staff to identify the special supervisory needs of the offender. The goal of the chaperone is to ensure the safety of the community by actively supervising the offender.
Offenders may request a chaperone for participation in activities that are typically forbidden. For example, attendance at weekly religious services, attending a family function where children are present, going to a shopping center, using the internet.
ISW chaperones routinely work with parole and probation officers to ensure the safety of the community and the offender.
Chaperones are available at an hourly or daily rate.
Chaperones do not provide transportation services.
Chaperones are also available to provide training on supervisory principles to direct care staff, correctional officers or other interested parties.
